Zoot Coffee is seeking full- and part-time, year-round baristas to join our fast-paced, community-oriented café in Camden, Maine. This role is best suited for individuals who thrive in a high-volume environment, take pride in consistency and quality, and enjoy working closely with a small, hardworking team to create a welcoming and efficient customer experience, along with excellent drinks and food offerings.
Baristas at Zoot develop strong technical skills, efficiency, and consistency in a bustling café setting. They gain hands-on experience in espresso preparation, workflow management, and customer service. Over time, there is opportunity to grow into leadership roles, including shift lead, keyholder, or café/kitchen manager.
Responsibilities
- Provide friendly, efficient, and attentive customer service
- Accurately handle transactions using our point-of-sale system
- Prepare espresso drinks, coffee, tea, and food items according to Zoot’s protocols and quality standards
- Work collaboratively with a small, close-knit team in a high-volume food service environment
- Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the café at all times
- Restock inventory, put away orders, and support daily operational needs
Qualifications
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and enthusiasm for learning new skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, solve problems, prioritize tasks under pressure, and communicate clearly with coworkers.
- Friendly, helpful, professional communication style with customers and a genuine interest in connecting with both daily regulars and visitors
- Enthusiasm for coffee, tea, pastries, and breakfast and lunch; attention to detail and pride in product quality
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
- Service industry experience is preferred, but not required—we will train.
Schedule & Availability
- Part-time position: 3–4 shifts per week (20–30 hours)
- Full-time position: 4–5 shifts per week (30–40 hours)
- Two consecutive days off guaranteed every week
- Shifts range from 6:15 AM to 5:45 PM, typically 3.75 to 10.25 hours in length
- Must be available to work one weekend day per week on a regular basis
Pay, Perks, and Benefits
- Starting wage: $15.10/hour plus tips (averaging $12–14/hour in credit card tips and $2/hour in cash tips)
- Base wage increases after espresso machine training, with additional increases based on experience, skill mastery, and commitment to the team
- Free food and beverages while on shift; plus one free drink per day and a food discount while off shift

- $250/month Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) for full-time (30+ hours average), year-round staff
